Terms of use

What this service is

SniperCaddie collects publicly listed prices for golf equipment from third-party marketplaces and retailers, compares each listing against price history it has observed itself, and ranks what it finds. It is an information tool. It does not sell anything, hold stock, take payment, or act as an agent for any seller.

Prices are observations, not offers

Every price shown is the price as last seen by an automated run, which may be minutes or hours old. Prices, postage, stock and seller terms change constantly, and listings are frequently removed. Nothing here is an offer to sell, and no price shown is guaranteed to still be available. Always confirm the price on the seller's own site before buying.

Rankings are estimates, and "errors" are guesses

The tiers - Hole in One, Albatross, Eagle, Birdie, Par, Bogey - are produced by a statistical comparison against a median this tool has calculated from its own limited observations. They are not verified, not endorsed by any seller, and carry no warranty.

The top two tiers explicitly guess that a price may be a mistake. That guess is often wrong. A listing can be cheap because it is damaged, counterfeit, a different variant, missing parts, an overseas shipment with import charges, or a scam. Filters exist to reduce those cases; they do not eliminate them. You are responsible for your own purchasing decisions.

The two percentages

Each deal may show up to two figures, and they measure different things:

• vs market - against the seller's own list price, or against the median of comparable gear where no list price is given. List prices are set by the seller and are frequently inflated; on used, clearance and end-of-line stock a "was" price may bear little relation to what the item ever sold for. A large percentage here is not evidence of a large saving.
• vs site - against the median SniperCaddie has itself observed for that exact product. This is the stronger of the two, but it is empty until enough sightings accumulate, and it reflects only the retailers indexed here.

Neither figure accounts for condition, completeness (missing headcovers, shafts or clubs from a set), specification, shaft or flex, model year, or postage. Used equipment in particular is priced on condition and age, which no automated comparison here can assess. Read the full listing, check the condition and the description, and satisfy yourself of the specification before buying.

No warranty, no liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator accepts no liability for loss arising from reliance on the information shown - including a price being wrong, a listing being unavailable, a ranking being misleading, or the service being unavailable. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud where that limitation would be unlawful.

Third-party sellers

All purchases happen on the seller's own platform, under that platform's terms. SniperCaddie has no involvement in the transaction and no ability to resolve disputes, refunds, or delivery problems.

Acceptable use

Don't scrape, resell, or bulk-redistribute the output; don't use it to place automated orders; don't attempt to overload the service. Trade marks and product names belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Privacy

The short version

SniperCaddie has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts. It does not collect personal data about visitors, and there is nothing to sell, share, or lose. The one exception is a price alert (email or Telegram), which only exists if you set one: see Price alerts. It is publicly hosted rather than local, so a request log exists at the hosting layer as it would for any website - see Affiliate disclosure for the one case where a click is attributed to this site.

What is stored

• Product data - public listing titles, prices, images, seller display names and URLs, plus the price history the tool derives from them. Seller display names are public marketplace handles, not private contact details.
• On your device - your cookie choice, and (only if you opt in) your filter preferences. See Cookies & storage.
• Server logs - the local server prints run activity to the console. It does not write visitor IP addresses to disk.

Price alerts (email and Telegram)

By email: we store your email address, the product, your target price, and when we last emailed you and at what price. Nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link we email you, and every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe that deletes all of your alerts. Emails are sent through our email provider, Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), acting on our behalf. The lawful basis is your consent, given by confirming.

By Telegram:

If you choose to set a price alert from a product page, you start a chat with the SniperCaddie bot on Telegram. To send you that alert we store your Telegram chat ID, the product, your target price, and when we last messaged you and at what price. Nothing else: not your name, number or username. The lawful basis is your consent, given by starting the bot. Send /list to see your alerts and /stop at any time to delete them all; blocking the bot deletes them too. We never use the chat ID for anything but the alerts you asked for.

If you deploy it publicly

This section stops being accurate the moment it is hosted. A host will log IP addresses; adding accounts, email alerts, or analytics introduces personal data and a UK GDPR lawful basis you must identify, document and disclose. Update this page before, not after.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. The only personal data held is the email address or Telegram chat ID of anyone who sets a price alert, which the unsubscribe link or /stop erases instantly; other requests can be made to the site operator.

Cookies & storage

This now has its own page, which lists every value stored on your device, why, and for how long. It lives in one place on purpose: two copies of a compliance document is how one of them quietly stops being true.

The short version: SniperCaddie sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts. It stores your consent choice, and your filter preferences only if you opt in. Full detail.

Affiliate disclosure

Specifics, so you can judge it rather than take it on trust:

• Which links. eBay listings only. Retailer links are currently untagged and earn nothing. If that changes this section will say so first.
• What it costs you. Nothing. Affiliate commission is paid by the seller's platform out of its own fee, not added to your price.
• What it pays. Typically 1–4% of the item price on a qualifying sale, within a 24-hour window of the click.
• What eBay is told. That a click came from this site, via a campaign ID in the link. No personal data about you is passed by SniperCaddie.

Ranking is commission-blind, and that is the point

The tiers are computed from price data alone - an observed median, the spread around it, and the seller's own list price. Commission is not an input to scoring, ordering, or which listings appear. A tagged eBay listing and an untagged retailer listing compete on identical terms.

This is not merely a promise about intent; it is why the product is worth anything. The only reason to trust an Albatross is that nothing but the price decided it. If commission ever influenced ranking, the tiers would be advertising with a golf vocabulary, and worth precisely nothing to you.

Data sources

Data comes from the eBay Browse API under eBay's developer terms, and from retailer product feeds and public product pages. Automated requests honour each site's robots.txt, identify themselves with a descriptive user agent, and are rate-limited per host.

If you operate a site indexed here and want it removed, contact the operator and it will be taken out of the source list.
