About SniperCaddie

SniperCaddie is a UK golf price tracker. It records what golf equipment actually sells for, then tells you whether the listing in front of you is cheap for that club or just cheap-looking. It is built and run by George Thirlaway.

Every price on this site is measured against 2,569,626 price sightings we have recorded ourselves across 28,051 products. Not against a recommended retail price, and not against a number a shop printed next to a red sticker.

Who runs it

One person: George Thirlaway. There is no team, no support desk and no investor. That is worth saying plainly because it sets what you should expect - replies come when they come, and anything on this site that looks like it was decided by one person with a strong opinion about pricing probably was.

How the numbers are made

The tracker watches eBay UK and fifteen UK golf retailers. Every time it sees a listing it records the price against a normalised product key, so a "TaylorMade Qi10 Max 10.5° Regular" from one shop and the same club described differently at another end up on the same product. That is the whole job, and it is most of the difficulty: titles are written by sellers, not by a catalogue.

From those recorded prices we take a median per product over a rolling window. A listing is then judged against that product's own history - how far under its typical price it is, how many sightings that typical price rests on, and how many different sellers contributed. Those three things decide the grade, from Bogey up to Hole in One.

What we refuse to do

We do not compare against RRP. A recommended retail price is a number a manufacturer chose and a shop can discount from at will, so "60% off list" tells you about the list, not about the club. Every saving quoted here is against what the product has actually changed hands for, as far as we have seen it.

We do not claim more confidence than the data carries. A product with nine recorded prices says so on its page. Where a median rests on too little, the page says there is not enough history rather than inventing a figure - and pages that cannot clear that bar are left out of the index entirely.

We do not let commission change an order. Links to sellers are affiliate-tagged where a programme exists, and if you buy, this site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Every ranking on this site is computed from prices before any link is built, so a shop cannot pay its way up a list. That is stated on each page that ranks anything, not just here.

What it does not know

It has not tested a golf club. There are no reviews of feel, forgiveness or launch here, and there will not be - what is measured is money. It also only knows what it has seen: a club that came out last week has little history, and a seller the tracker does not cover is invisible to it. Prices shown are the last ones seen, not offers, and they move constantly. Always read the real listing before buying.

Privacy, briefly

No cookies, no analytics, no third-party scripts. The only optional storage is remembering your filter choices on your own device, and you are asked first. The privacy notice has the detail and the cookie page explains the one thing that is stored.
