What one generation of Vokey wedge is worth
SM8, SM9 and SM10 at matched lofts, priced from what they sell for. The same wedge, one model number back, at a measurable discount.
A Vokey is the ideal thing to measure a generation with. Titleist releases them on a two-year cycle with a model number on the head, the loft is stamped on every one, and the grinds carry across. So a 56 degree SM9 and a 56 degree SM10 are as close to the same club as two different clubs get, and whatever separates their prices is the model number and nothing else.
How these are counted
Each figure is the median over independent live listings: one price per seller per price. That matters more here than anywhere else on the site, because used wedges are the favourite product of bulk sellers, who list the same club eight or nine times with the shaft reworded in each title. Counted raw, one seller's asking price becomes the market. Counted this way, eight duplicate listings are one option, which is what they are to you.
Reading it
One model number back is 17% cheaper on average and two is 34%. Set against that: the face is the part of a wedge that wears out, and a used wedge two generations old has had two more years of somebody else's bunker shots. Grooves are a consumable in a way that a driver head is not.
Which makes the wedge the one club where "buy last year's model" needs a caveat. The saving is real and so is the wear, and the only way to tell them apart is a photograph of the face. Buy the older generation when you can see the grooves, and buy the current one when you cannot.
Every wedge we track, and the value ranking for how this plays out across the rest of the bag.
AdLinks to sellers are affiliate-tagged where we have a programme. If you buy, this site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It plays no part in any figure above, which are computed from prices before any link is built. How this works.
